Case Studies

GWG resources have more than 80 years combined experience across a wide range of industries, projects, and technologies. This page contains a few more recent examples of our past and present successes. More details regarding these and other projects, including ROI and financial metrics, are available to prospective clients.

Workforce Connectivity SaaS Solution

(JBoss Stack, Hibernate, Compass/Lucene, MySQL, Linux)

GWG recently helped a Bay Area startup define a "Software as a Service" (SaaS) workforce connectivity solution around the management of computing and wireless devices. The architecture and development work led by GWG resources resulted in a highly available, multi-tenant platform. Furthermore, the creation of defensible intellectual property (including several pendng technology patents) on a 100% open source platform has increased the company's private valuation by over 500% in about one year's time.

Power Seller Community Wiki

(Jotspot, XML/XPath, Tomcat, Linux)

Based on extensive functional requirements, GWG designed, implemented, and currently supports an advanced collaboration tool for auction site power sellers. GWG validated the use of our client's Java/XML application platform to develop and support highly available and functional applications. A few months after this application went live our client was acquired by one of the largest Internet search providers in the industry.

E-Commerce Subscription Renewal System

(ATG on WebLogic, Oracle RDBMS and Financials, Linux)

GWG resources rescued a trouble effort to rewrite an online license renewal site for a major virus protection software vendor. An upgraded, SOA-based licensing technology required a major overhaul of the customer facing license renewal site for virtually all of the client's products. By correcting a flawed methodology and performing key design and development tasks, our resources were able to put the project back on track and meet the original deadline for 2006 product launches. This was a major win for the company's internal development organization and saved millions of dollars in potentially lost revenue.

Credit Risk Management System

(Netegrity, Apache, WebLogic, DB/2, Linux)

GWG resources created a web-based system for credit card issuers to access information regarding account data compromises and potential fraudulent activity. By enabling fast notification and data access to member banks, the application allows security breach information to flow from merchants and law enforcements to card issuers in hours instead of days, saving the banks millions in potential fraud losses.
